Not what we want to hear but it’s just the reality of things for Celtic

According to reports, Rocco Vata is near to signing a four year deal with Italian side Verona. That’s not news we want to hear, especially with a talented young player like Rocco.

Rocco made his first team debut under Ange Postecoglou last year and he didn’t look out of place. You could see why he is so highly rated. Unfortunately the club haven’t offered him a new deal, but the truth is that the club can’t guarantee him the first team football that he craves.

That’s the same position a lot of young talent find themselves in at the club. We play in an intense environment and it’s hard for youngsters to get regular first team football. That’s just the way it is, and the way it’s always been for youth players at this club.

Only really exceptional talent such as Aiden McGeady, James Forrest, Callum McGregor and Kieran Tierney will make the grade. If your good enough you will play regularly. Unfortunately for Rocco and a few others the club can’t guarantee that in the pressure pot that is playing for Celtic.

Bloody poor stuff from Celtic losing guys like this and buying in young guys that perhaps we can sell after a couple of years, very poor business.

  2. Guys in the B team must be wondering if all worthwhile when they see players from abroad being bought in for peanuts while they’re left to rot. These foreign guys can’t be guaranteed first team football either. Disband the B team it’s obviously wasting its time.

  3. Don’t disband it rebuild it and bring in better coaching staff and international scouts instead of predominately old Celtic players who are unlikely to make it as first team coaches with other teams and make lennoxtown in to what it was built for and that is producing real talent that is ready for the first team so that when we have times like now when injuries strike we have quality instead of quantity ready to step up for us.
