Team’s Up – Spain name strong team to face Scotland in Seville

Luis de la Fuente has named his Spain team for this evening’s UEFA Euro 2024 qualifier against Scotland. After being beaten 2-0 by Scotland at Hampden earlier this year, the Spaniards have named a strong team to face Steve Clarke’s team in Seville tonight.

In goals, Atletico Bilbao goalkeeper Unai Simon starts.

In defence, Real Sociedad’s Robin Le Normand partners ex-Man City star Aymeric Laporte with Barca’s Alejandro Balde at left back along with serial winner Dani Carvajal on the right.

In midfield, Man City’s Rodri starts. The Champions League match winner was bitter after the defeat at Hampden, criticising the Scottish style of play. Hopefully he is as bitter come the end of the evening. The sitting midfielder is joined by Barca wondered Gavi along with Real Sociedad’s Mikel Merino.

In attack, the clinical Alvaro Morata starts through the middle with Barca’s Ferran Torres on the right and Mikel Oyarzabal, Real Sociedad, on the left. Celtic fans will be able to get a look at Morata, who will turn out for Atletico Madrid in the Champions League Group Stages later this month.

On the bench: Arrizabalaga, Raya, Sancet, Pau Torres, Fabian Ruiz, Zaragoza, Joselu, Garcia, Fati, Zubimendi, Fran Garcia and Jesus Navas.

Scotland Starting XI: Angus Gunn; Jack Hendry, Ryan Porteous, Scott McKenna; Andy Robertson, Aaron Hickey: Callum McGregor, Scott McTominay, John McGinn; Ryan Christie, Lyndon Dykes.

Subs: Kelly, Clark, Souttar, Adams, Cooper, Gilmour, Armstrong, Ferguson, Brown, Taylor, Patterson, McLean.
