Jota knows he would be both appreciated and adored back at Celtic

A sensational return for Jota in January? Will it actually happen?…

Rumours have been circulating of a stunning return to the club in January for our former superstar from Portugal, Jota.

Yes it’s been spoke of, but how much substance there is to it, I don’t know. One thing we do know is that from a footballing perspective, he’s been treated shockingly over in the Gulf since his megabucks move and has been shunned from the first team squad. Maybe the money makes it worthwhile, but who really knows what Jota is thinking about his summer move after the highs of winning a treble at Celtic.

Jota of course probably won’t mind too much as he’s earning a fortune, but his pride has most likely taken a bit of a dent as he’s been overlooked for reasons unknown to anyone. Why sign him of just over £25m then not even put him in your squad for league matches?

Jota’s a guy who looks like he enjoys playing his football, so not playing regularly is bound to upset him in that regard and he must be asking himself every single day ‘why did they bring me here and pay all that money only to leave me in footballing limbo?

So it does beg the question, will Jota make a sensational return in the next window? More importantly would he want to? It looks increasingly likely that his contact with the Saudi side will be terminated so a fee wouldn’t come into the equation. Only his salary would be the problem.

If all those hurdles were evaded it would be one of the most peculiar and remarkable signings in our history. To sell a guy for £25 million and sign him on a free a few months later. It’s bizarre to say the least.

I for one like the overwhelming majority of Celtic supporters would be delighted if it were to happen and Jota was to come home to his own Paradise in Glasgow where he knows he’s be appreciated and adored.
