Atletico Madrid will wear a special shirt in tribute to their 1973/74 meeting with Celtic. The teams met in the European Cup Semi Final, with the Spaniards winning 2-0 on aggregate.
🚨Shirt Alert🚨
Paying tribute to the 1973/74 European Cup semi-final between Atlético Madrid and Celtic at Celtic Park, Atlético will wear this red shirt in the same fixture, 50 years on.
It will be worn with blue shorts and red socks, just as it was in the original fixture. pic.twitter.com/t7KkbJcBQ0

The game was marred in controversy due to Atletico’s tactics of booting Jimmy Johnstone wherever they could in the 0-0 first leg meeting. Fortunately, justify prevailed and Bayern Munich dumped them out in the Final.
Celtic host the La Liga side in what is a must win game for Rodgers’ team. After their dismantling of Hearts 4-1 at Tynecastle, the domestic form has been good and there will be hopes that this will translate into continental success.
Hopefully Celtic can spoil their commemoration of 1973/74 season.
WHERE YOU THERE?
If you were at this European Cup semi-final between Celtic and Atletico Madrid we’d love to hear your stories and memories of that disgraceful match when Atletico Madrid shamed the beautiful game…
If Atletico really wanted to ”honour” the team from 1974 they should wear a stripey uniform with little arrows on it – an old fashioned prison outfit , as most of that team should have ended up in gaol if there were any justice in the world . Or if Uefa were a less corrupt organisation !
