Remember Mathias Kvistgaarden? Celtic were linked with the Brøndby IF striker in the summer and reportedly had TWO bigs rejected just ahead of the transfer window closing.
Now Mathias Kvistgaarden, linked to Celtic in the summer has opened up regarding his future in an interview with Danish magazine Tipsbladet, saying that he is focusing on performing for Brøndby IF, which could give him a move away in the near future.
A move away would be interesting but I’m focusing on the present – Mathias Kvistgaarden…
“I’m, of course, thinking about the future, but right now, I’m keeping my focus on the present. We have many matches left in this season, but the goal is if I can produce as many good performances as possible, which will be able to help me in terms of my own future,” the Brøndby striker said.
“There’s no doubt that it’s interesting. Big clubs were supposedly present there (Brøndby´s match against FC Nordsjælland). I would be lying if I said otherwise. But I don’t want to dwell too much on such matters because I’m afraid it could divert my focus from the game on the field,” Kvistgaarden added.
“It’s hard to say which league suits me best. It varies depending on what people think and how they see me as a player in terms of where I belong. The Bundesliga is a great league, and it could be a fun place to play. But it also depends on the specific team and how they play,” he added.
With many clubs scouting the striker, Celtic would need to spend upwards of £4.5m to bring him to Paradise. It’s one that perhaps hasn’t gone away. We don’t know if Celtic were one of the clubs watching Kvistgaarden in the game against FC Nordsjælland.
Looking back to our content from the end of August we were writing about three players coming in – Luis Palma, Paulo Bernardo and Mathias Kvistgaarden so two out of three wasn’t bad.
Was Kvistgaarden the one that got away or for Celtic will it be a case of ‘if at first you don’t succeed, try, try again?’ Celtic were linked with making a THIRD bid, believed to have been for £4.5m for the striker, but this never materialised at that time.
Will Celtic go back in when the January window opens? We’ll have to wait and see.
