Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers was clearly delighted with the 4-3 victory for the Champions of Scotland over the much fancied Champions of England.

Few if any , outside of the Celtic support, gave Celtic much chance at all in this Battle of Britain showdown and some will point to the Man City team not being at its strongest – it was strong enough!
And Celtic weren’t at our strongest either, with both CCV and AJ not featuring and of course we await the return of Paulo Bernardo and Adam Idah at the very least.

“Some of the football we played was excellent,” the Celtic manager said afterwards to Celtic TV. “We showed how much we wanted to attack. When you play Pep’s teams, they’re so complex in how they play. I said before the game that, physically, this would be another step up for us.
“But it’s also a step up tactically because you’ve got to be so concentrated and press in the right moments. But I thought the players dealt with that so well. It was a really good night, and the supporters were amazing once again.”

On Nicholas Kuhn’s Man of the Match performance, a delighted Celtic manager had this to say about his only outfield permanent signing in 2024.
“He’s come back looking very sharp, the moves for his goals were outstanding. He finished his two goals really well. And actually, his pass for the third goal was magical really, with the outside of the foot. Two goals and an assist for him. He was very good.”

And on Kasper Schmeichel’s brilliant first 45 minutes as a Celtic player with some of his trademark saves denying the likes of Erling Haaland when he looked a strong favourite to find the back of the Celtic net, Brendan said:
“He’s one of the best in that 1v1 moment. He makes himself so big, his timing, everything is so good.
“That was a lovely introduction for him tonight and he’ll understand as he goes along how much we need from him. His personality will be huge, not just for the team, but for the club as well.”
Let’s have a look at some of the comments on the Celtic channel on YouTube to Brendan’s post-match reaction to the 4-3 win over Manchester City.
“As ever, the mighty Glasgow Celtic put the arrogant English to the sword!”…”Pat on the back is more than deserved”…”Champions of Britain once again”…”Glad I stayed up.That’s the football we want to see.Kuhn and Kaspar excellent.”

“Back the manager with quality please”…”Fantastic result”…”Brendan has got this”…Brendan seems content and happy. Not a good sign for anyone hoping to STEEL(!!!) our crown!”…”Was good seeing Kasper making some belters of saves. Kuhn was superb and some of the passing was amazing, hopefully they can take this into the first game of the season.”
“Excellent most excellent Celtic”…”Like I said after the DC game, results aside, it’s the sharpest I’ve seen our team look in pre-season. We’re three or four players away from having a brilliant squad for the season ahead. BR, lucky to have the man.”…

“A Grand result. A positive run in Europe is key this season. The Club should have a say at that level. Now up to the Club and all those involved in it to do the business.”…”Gaffer looks relaxed and happy.”…”Well done Celtic. 2 wins and 8 goals, can’t ask for much more.”
“Absolutely fantastic beating Manchester teams isn’t for everyone in Glasgow”…”All the comments on the DC United game saying that City will batter us have been deleted”…”Was 100% worth staying up for. Some nice football by both teams. Celtic goals were all belters”…”He sounded really upbeat and happy with Kuhn too. Great workout, good win, and most of all great for the supporters to have plenty to cheer about.”

I hope mikey johnston was looking at Celtic winning goal against man city the way kwo unselfish play a for palma to score an easy goal an assist is as good as a goal now mikey would have have shot giving there goalkeeper a chance rather and pass and give a team mate an easier chance for certain goal and what a pass by khunn Brazilian done that or even a man city player it would be talked about after game but this country media is getting worse might nit be reporter more like editors mind set nothing bad to write about Celtic don’t print it across the Clyde a club that has disgraced Glasgow in the last 13years defrauding government dragged threw courts or masonic lawlords costing Glasgow millions in libel pay out it club has been run by conman carpet baggers ibrox sold back Murray park and club history under handedly for£5,000,000 should have been sold and rented back to sevco bet sevco wish that happened cause the foundation are giving way like Kingston bridge with world water level rising old co will be turning in its grave lie and more lies can’t c a masonic handshake helping now but in this country fir some reason it’s supposed to be protestant club how many how many belief that now
Well played Celtic but don’t get too carried away. If City include Rodri. De Brune, Foden, Walker, Ederson, Dias, Gvardiol, Bernardo, Doku. Stones, Ake. Alvaraz and Akanji in the squad they tend to be a different team.
I think we all realise this Bluemoon48. Still, last time we met in the Champions League City couldn’t beat us and Celtic should probably have won down at your place. If you compared the value of both teams that played the other night City would still be way ahead. Did you expect to lose to Celtic? Not too sure that many Celtic supporters – other than the ultra optimists – thought we’d win. Best of luck for the season ahead.
