Major EFL update set to have impact on West Brom move for Mikey Johnston

West Brom are unlikely to be able to sign Mikey Johnston from Celtic. The EFL Championship side have been placed under an imposed business plan that will limit their transfer business amid concerns they will breach financial rules.

The news will have an impact upon the Baggies’ pursuit of the Irish winger, who impressed in the second half the season while on loan at the Hawthorns.

There had been a clamour from West Brom fans to bring Johnston back in a permanent basis but, curiously, chatter died down. It appears that West Brom have been aware of the impending sanctions from the EFL and this has curtailed their business.

Johnston’s Celtic future appears uncertain, he was involved in pre-season and scored against Chelsea but given the amount of opportunities that he’s had, he may wish to return to England; where he impressed.

  1. There seems to have been a massive reduction with the spending throughout the championship in England this window?
These new financial regulations are looking like having a big impact within the overall game by the looks of things imo?
Still uncertain what Rodgers plans are for Mikey Johnston?
At present using him as a potential 2nd striker, and still one of our 8 homegrown quota players at present?
Still wouldn’t be confident of such a role for Mikey will work out for ourselves, yet it could be a masterstroke by Rodgers all the same?
The beauty of the unknown within football at present regarding Mikey?
Mikey still possibly have the advantage over yang for a squad place at present imo?
Still some decision making to be made by Rodgers before finalising how our attacking options will shape up for the season ahead imo?
