Italian journalist claims Brighton have made £25m bid for Matt O’Riley

Celtic have reportedly received an offer of £25m plus add-ons for Matt O’Riley. The Danish midfielder has been the subject of intense transfer speculation this summer but still performed for Brendan Rodgers’ side during pre-season and the first game of the new year.

According to Alfredoperulla, Brighton have made a sizeable offer for O’Riley as they look to bring him to the Premier League.

The report claims that the Seagulls have offered the fee alongside £4m in potential add-ons. Celtic have received interest from Southampton and Atalanta, who could drive the price up while Liverpool and Chelsea keep an eye on the situation.

It remains to be seen whether there is anything in this report. Italian outlets tend to be a bit more sensational with their reporting. You would also imagine that sources closer to Celtic and Brighton would be reporting on the deal, too.

Since arriving from MK Dons in January 2022, O’Riley scored 8 goals and assisted 16 times in 72 appearances under Ange Postecoglou. The Australian departed for Spurs bringing Brendan Rodgers back to Paradise, which took O’Riley’s performances to another level – scoring 19 goals and assisting 19 times in 50 appearances.

  1. What I meant to say is this. I am so frustrated with the director of Celtic FC – The Bank of Friends and Family.

Glasgow Celtic. The bank of friends and family. Peter Lawell and Michael Nicholson. More like Michael Nichallthemoney. We are shambolic. Six non executive directors. Stealing from Glasgow Celtic fans.
