Video: Brighton star selects surprise Celtic star as favourite player

Brighton and Ireland striker Evan Ferguson has selected Liam Scales as his favourite Celtic player. The teenage sensation was quizzed by Open Goal’s Si Ferry and Paul Slane at the FC25 opening event.

Speaking to the podcasting duo, Ferguson admitted that Celtic were his Scottish team before revealing that his favourite player was his compatriot Scales.

Scales is often targeted by a section of the support for his abilities on the ball but he never shirks or shrinks when he pulls on the Celtic jersey. The defender, signed for £500k from Shamrock Rovers, appeared to be set to leave last summer in permanent move to Aberdeen but an injury crisis allowed him the opportunity to stake a claim under Brendan, something he grasped with two hands and hasn’t let go.

It may be somewhat surprising that Ferguson didn’t pick his striking rival Adam Idah, or any number of other Celtic talents. However, it is testament to the unsung hero that is Scales.
