As reported by Sun Sport, Celtic have booked a medical to sign Yamada from Kawasaki Front in the J-League.

The 25-year-old is currently in Japan International duty but looks set to make the switch to Celtic at the end of next week. The striker has played 121 games for the J-League outfit, scoring 32 goals and assisting on 9 occasions.

Brendan Rodgers wants to bring up the quality of his squad while trimming fringe players. Attack has been the focus for the manager with Kyogo requiring replacing from January but now, the club look to have to replace Como-bound Nicolas Kühn.

Antwerp winger  Michel-Ange Balikwisha is expected to move to Celtic too, having missed his club’s training camp.

Celtic look to have missed out on Isak Jansson, who is nearing a £9m switch to OGC Nice. The winger has been linked with a switch from Rapid Vienna but it appears that the Ligue 1 side have agreed a deal, which means that Celtic will have to look elsewhere.

The news regarding Jansson comes after Mathias Kvistgaarden made a £6.9m switch to Norwich City. The Dane had been a target for some time but it appears that the club have opted against a move to for the ex-Brondby attacker.
