Griffiths set to partner Edouard as Lenny looks to 4-4-2

NEIL LENNON, speaking to Sky Sports after the fixture lists were released this morning, confirmed that David Turnbull will sign for Celtic today, barring any further twists in the saga, and suggested that we’ll be seeing a different formation next season, hinting at a welcome return to the side for Leigh Griffiths to play alongside Odsonne Edouard in a 4-4-2.

On the latest Turnbull developments The Celtic manager was clearly pleased at the way things worked out. “The deal will be concluded, hopefully today. Thankfully he’s chosen us over Premier League teams, which is quite a coup for us.”

Turnbull will be the first of several new arrivals expected to be signed over the next few weeks – the latest player being linked is Copenhagen’s Danish international right back Peter Ankersen. Lennon is well aware that the current squad, with so many departures since the club final win over Hearts, needs strengthening.

“Some of them have been playing over 60 games consistently for the last three years, hence why we have done a treble treble which is a remarkable feat and we’re not stopping there.

“We want more, and hopefully with the injection of fresh quality we can give the players around the club a much-needed incentive to move forward.”

Leigh Griffiths has returned to training, with his sharpness back and a real desire to make an impact once again in a Celtic shirt after his personal difficulties last season. He could play a crucial role in the restructuring of The Celtic formation so it be out with the 4-2-3-1 and a return to the 4-4-2 that Lenny has preferred throughout his managerial career.

“Now I can start putting my own imprint on things. I’m not ripping it up and starting again, but we’re looking at different styles and formations,” Lenny confirmed to Sky Sports.
