Celtic have moved quickly and decisively in this window, and the signing of Camilo Durán on a five-year deal is the latest statement of intent.
Celtic Football Club have officially announced the signing of Colombian forward Camilo Durán on a five-year deal, subject to international clearance. The club confirmed the move on Friday morning, with the hashtag #BienvenidoCamilo signalling a warm welcome to the 24-year-old from Medellín.
Durán arrives from Qarabağ FK in the Azerbaijan Premier League, where he had been playing since August 2025. He made a remarkable impression in European competition almost immediately, scoring and assisting on his Champions League debut against Benfica in a 3–2 win – a performance that earned him man of the match and, clearly, attracted the attention of clubs well beyond the Caucasus.

The length of that contract – five years – tells you everything about how seriously the recruitment team view this one. This isn’t a punt on a raw unknown; it’s a considered bet on a player whose profile fits exactly the kind of low-cost, high-ceiling model Celtic have refined over recent years. You can read more about the background to this deal in our earlier piece on the Durán transfer strategy.
At 178cm and capable of operating across the front line – primarily on the right wing and as an inside forward – Durán offers genuine versatility to the attacking unit. He’s not a traditional centre-forward, but in a system that demands movement, pressing intensity, and technical quality in tight areas, those qualities matter far more than a fixed position.
The timing is significant too. With Celtic’s Champions League playoff spot carrying enormous financial and competitive stakes this summer, the addition of a player who has already demonstrated he can perform at that level – even if the context at Qarabağ was different – is exactly the kind of profile that makes sense. European pedigree, however modest the club, is still pedigree.

The move is still subject to international clearance, so registration with the Scottish FA and UEFA comes next before he can pull on the Hoops competitively. Pre-season will be where we get our first proper look at him, and the hope is he hits the ground running when it matters most in August.
Let’s be honest – the window has had its moments of uncertainty, as other recruitment activity this summer has shown. But Durán, on a five-year deal, feels like a signing made with conviction. Welcome to Paradise, Camilo.
