WITH football returning next month, we can look back at years gone by and thanks to @Lilze85 on Twitter, we are able to see what happened on this day throughout Celtic’s history.
In 2014, the young Callum McGregor made his debut for Ronny Deila’s Celtic. The starlet was the match winner with a left footed effort into the KR Reykjavik goal.

Another goalscoring debut was the year after when Dedryck Boyata made his debut for the club. The Belgian signed from Manchester City and was partnered by Virgil Van Dijk in the heart of the Celtic defence as Deila’s signed played Stjarnan in the Champions League qualifiers.

Finally, on this day in 2008, Celtic made the signing of Georgious Samaras permanent. The Greek International signed from Manchester City after a successful short stint at Paradise. Sammy went on to play at the club until 2014 when his contract expired. The loveable Greek gave us some incredible moments in his time at the club – most notable Samaras Sunday at Ibrox.
