YOU didn’t read that David Turnbull was heading to Stoke City on The Celtic Star, sometimes a nonsense story should be regarded as just that and is best ignored. Maybe some sites need the clicks pretty badly?
Turnbull’s move to Celtic collapsed last summer after a previously undetected knee problem was uncovered at his medical in Manchester ahead of completing his £3m move from Motherwell. That kind of money was game-changing for the Fir Park side and would have been as much a blow to them as it was to the player himself who must have been devastated.
Instead of beginning an exciting chapter in his career the teenager was instead facing surgery and effectively a season out of the game. Now though he’s back and Celtic have maintained their interest in signing the goal scoring midfielder who committed himself to a years extension at Motherwell to ensure that their position is maintained after the year recovering from the operation was over.

So here we are and while we can dismiss Stoke City’s interest in signing a boy who has been a year out of football we do know that Neil Lennon has been kept informed of developments as David Turnbull’s recovery progressed.
So the news today that Nick Hammond was in attendance at a Motherwell behind closed doors bounce match against Kilmarnock should come as no surprise to anyone. If Turnbull proves his fitness there is no reason why Celtic will not complete the deal that was put on ice last summer and bring the boy back to Paradise, this time to complete his £3m transfer.
