Green Brigade’s statement calls for Peter Lawwell’s Resignation

The Green Brigade have this afternoon released a statement in which they call for the resignation of the Celtic CEO Peter Lawwell. They also urge all Celtic Supporters to join the Celtic Trust as a means of securing greater supporter input into the running of the club.

They open by noting the huge financial commitment that a record number of supporters  made in the summer when 60,000 season tickets were purchased despite the likelihood that the matches would have to be watched on a stream provided by the club. “Our return has been a calamitous season of historic proportions”.

Peter Lawwell’s ‘parody-like apology’ for the Dubai trip and is mentioned next. :The insulting claim of being the ‘most affected club’ by the pandemic fails to disguise his own neglect and demonstrates a shocking lack of self awareness”.

The full statement, including the call for Peter Lawwell to resign is available below.

As we said earlier today, it is time to talk Peter.

  1. I would like an answer to the following 8 questions:

    1. Who made the decision to spend 4.5 on Arteta and what did they see in Arteta that was better than Ivan Toney who was quoted as saying he would walk to our club to sign for us? Toney now worth about 35 million!
    2. Who made the decision not to pay 3 million for McGinn, a natural successor to Brown. Now worth 30 to 40 million!
    3. Who made the decision to buy Barkas for 4.5 million when we could have had Scottish Internationalists Marshall and or Gordon for free?
    4. Why spend millions on a useless Duffy loan and lose out to Gent for American ace centre half McKenzie?
    5. Why did it take Lennon half a season to realize Turnbull is a class player, yet he was given hardly any game time?
    6. Why did it take Lennon so long to realize Brown’s legs have gone (as has Rogic’s).
    7. Why was Tierney forced to leave when he could have been given the captains role, played with us for a few years more and we still could have got the same amount in transfer fees, or more, than we got from Arsenal?
    8. Why did we keep Edouard and Ntcham when they clearly wanted to leave? We could have got high transfer fees for them, instead they don’t show up all season and we have to sell them at reduced fees wasting even more millions!

These bad decisions, along with other terrible signings, have cost Celtic FC about 100 million pounds in revenue which includes the inability to qualify for the CL. When will Lawwell realize saving money on wages for second rate managers and recruitment is costing Celtic FC 100’s of millions of pounds?

  2. You sum it all up in a nutshell John but nobody at Celtic is going to give you any answers the only hope for the club is a new CEO, a new manager, a new backroom team and a new chairman that would be a start to help mend fences with the fans. H.H.
