Daizen Maeda: “Speaks better English than Kris Boyd”, “Better English than Alex Rae”

Daizen Maeda sent a short message to The Celtic Support last night via Celtic TV and the debut goalscorer was even confident enough to deliver the message in English.

Maeda told Celtic TV after last nightā€™s 2-0 win over Hibs at Celtic Park. Ā ā€œIā€™m very happy to score and contribute to the team. Iā€™m looking forward to the next few games and contributing more.Ā I was nervous before the game but I thought I could score a goal and Iā€™m very happy to be here. I usually donā€™t get nervous but fortunately I could convert that feeling into good energy.

Before the game, I decided I would score a goal. I received a good pass from my team-mate (tom Rogic) and I just finished.Ā Ā I have to score a lot of goals. If not, the team canā€™t reach to become champions and I want to be a player who can lead Celtic.

ā€œIf we want to be champions, we have to be a good team and we have to keep scoring, no matter who plays,ā€ Maeda saidĀ ā€œI know the manager but that doesnā€™t mean I can always be playing. Thereā€™s competition inside the team and in training. I have to show my quality, but I know his style very well and I know we can play much better.

ā€œIā€™m a player with heart. I want to show how I fight against the other team to all the fans.Ā All my team-mates have impressed me and weā€™ve had good training sessions.Ā Now, if we can continue to play together on more occasions then we can play much better than we are now.ā€

Itā€™s very understandable to be nervous in front of 60,000. However, that is 60,000 supporters behind you and will do all we can to help you succeed and protect you from the wolves & vultures who circulate Celtic Park looking to inflict damage.
