Yosuke Ideguchi has suffered another injury set-back, according to a report, in what will be a devastating blow to the Japanese midfielder. Ideguchi suffered the same fate when he first arrived in Glasgow as he was viciously assaulted on the field of play against Alloa back in January. The player was sidelined for some months afterwards and was stopped from making an instant impact at Parkhead.
Ideguchi was the only confirmed member of the squad for the new season who was not involved in the squad at the weekend for the final pre-season match against Norwich City, so that suggests that the training injury happened towards the end of last week.
Now it has been relayed by the mainstream media outlet that Yosuke will miss the start of the season in what will almost certainly be a deflating turn of events for the player. The report read:
“Yosuke Ideguchi is set to miss the start of the season after suffering another injury blow.
The luckless Celtic midfielder had a nightmare start to his Parkhead career after being crocked against Alloa in January.
“SunSport understands Ideguchi, 25, has now picked up a fresh injury problem in training and faces another spell on the sidelines.”
The 25-year-old has not had his sorrows to seek since moving to Scotland, that’s for sure.
His teammates managed to hit the ground running when they first came and helped the club to a League title I Ange Postecoglou’s opening gambit as manager. Ideguchi will no doubt be itching to impress the supporters since the rich vein of form that his fellow countrymen have been in since the New Year.
Unfortunately for him, he will have to wait that bit longer again due to this new training setback. One area of the park in which we badly need that combatative style and energy is midfield. This new revelation will come as quite the headache for the manager too, as he will be without another player in that area of the team – especially one who has a point to prove.
