Celtic opened the scoring in Perth thanks to Sead Haksabanovic’s cross deflecting off St Johnstone’s Andy Considine. The Scottish Champions have been dominant but have struggled to break down a stubborn home defence.
The opener came on the brink of half time. Reo Hatate found the advancing Haksabanovic. The winger, who joined this summer from Rubin Kazan, fired a cross across the six yard box with Giakoumakis the target. Considine, formerly of Aberdeen, clearly wasn’t willing to take the risk so stuck a leg out and it ricocheted beyond Matthews in the Saints net.

Hopefully Celtic can turn their possession into more goals in the second half.
