Celtic are in pole position to sign Giakoumakis, according to Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos. Celtic are battling a number of sides for the signature of the Greek Internationalist but it appears that Ange Postecoglou’s side are the frontrunners to sign the forward.
Chorianopoulos is the Celtic support’s go-to guy as far as information on Greek football when it relates to Celtic. The Editor in Chief at Sportime newspaper and Sportime.gr took to Twitter to say that Werder Bremen had made more contact with Venlo but that Celtic were in pole position to sign the striker.
Werder had new contact with Venlo and no deal for Giakoumakis. Dutch club want a €3m. plus add-onns transfer fee (or a 15% sell on clause). Celtic seems to be in pole position@CelticFC @werderbremen #Celtic #CelticFC #Werder

Giakoumakis finished the top scorer last season in the Dutch league but could not stop Venlo being relegated. Celtic look to be making a move for Giakoumakis as anticipation grows that a bid will come in for Odsonne Edouard. The Frenchman appears to be of interest to Crystal Palace and OGC Nice but, as of yet, is still a Celtic player. This situation will likely twist and turn before the end of the transfer window; however, it would appear that in order to sign the 26-goal scorer from last season, Celtic will need to act quickly and make sure that they get the business done.
