Elvis has played for three German sides

Born in Gjonaj, Kosovo, to Kosovo-Albanian parents, Rexhbeçaj and his family relocated to Germany during the Kosovo War. He came through the youth system at Wolfsburg before later moving to FC Augsburg, with spells at FC Köln and VfL Bochum along the way.

Initially, he had ambitions of representing Germany at the international level and was also close to committing to Albania. However, on 13 July 2024, he officially pledged his allegiance to the Kosovo national team.

Rexhbeçaj was named in the most recent Kosovo squad

Rexhbeçaj was named in the most recent Kosovo squad by manager Franco Foda, and with Celtic looking at defensive midfield reinforcements, a move to Glasgow could possibly be on the cards.

Brendan Rodgers will also be able to have a chat with Arne Engels about his former teammate which will provide a difference perspective on the latest Celtic transfer target.  Could these two be doing their pre-season training together at Celtic this summer? Time will tell.
