Celtic v Hearts: “Ultimately everything we do is for the supporters,” Ange Postecoglou

The build-up to Saturday’s match against Hearts at Celtic Park is now underway with Ange Postecoglou talking to Celtic TV. The Celtic manager confirmed that he’d given his players a few days off after the match on Sunday against theRangers which was followed by the Celtic Awards event where the team were all present.

Now though it’s back to business with the players training and preparations for the match against Hearts well underway. Ange is happy to talk about getting the title over the line with this group over the next ten days as the season draws to a close and admits he’s going to be delighted for the players and the staff if the title is delivered as expected – Celtic are six points ahead with three games remaining and have a superior goal difference of +19 – but most of all he’ll be delighted for the supporters.

“After last weekend game, I think for everyone there was quite a bit of emotion and physical exertion on the day so we gave the Bhoys a couple of days off just to recover and refresh them a little bit. So they’re back into training and looking forward to it (the match against Hearts).

“It’s been a challenging year but we’re in the final straight now. We know that as a group we’ve got ten days together and you want to make the most of it.

Asked about wanting to win the league for the supporters who have welcomed Ange at the club with open arms: Yeah, it’s everything.
I consistently talk to the players. I want want it for the players as well, and the staff because I know how enormous a challenge it was this year for them to get us to this position but ultimately everything we do is for the supporters.

“They’re the ones that I always say after we’re long gone, they’re still going to be here, they’re still going to be supporting and you want to give them those special moments. You want to give them the success and you know that once the season is over if we have achieved the ultimate and won the league that you know their summer is going to look a lot different than it did last summer. And that’s what we want. That’s what we want to try to achieve.”

  1. Has Ange been signed up on a longer contract yet; you’d think that’d be a priority for the club!?
