Team’s Up – Schmeichel starts for Denmark against Scotland

Celtic goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel has been named in the Denmark Starting XI for this evening’s World Cup qualifier against Scotland. Steve Clarke is looking to get the feel good factor back after a poor Nations League campaign.

The Celtic No.1 starts in goals but there are two notable inclusions in the Danish squad. Kasper Dolberg start up front, a few days after he snubbed Celtic’s interest for a return to Ajax. Celtic allowed Adam Idah to depart before a deal for Dolberg fell apart. Celtic managed to get a deal for Kelechi Iheanacho, who was released by Sevilla, over the line but the club find themselves in a weaker position than they went into the transfer window.

Former Celtic favourite Matt O’Riley starts on the bench, having completed a loan deal to Marseille from Brighton. The silky midfielder was linked with Juventus but a deal was not forthcoming.

Schmeichel, Kristensen, Andersen, Christensen, Mæhle, Dreyer, Højbjerg, Hjulmand, Damsgaard, Dolberg, Biereth.

Subs: Hermansen, Jørgensen, Vestergaard, Høgsberg, O’Riley, Osula, Højlund, Grønbæk, Skov Olsen, Froholdt, Dorgu, Gaaei.
