A report in the Scottish Sun today has linked Celtic with a move for Shamrock Rovers’ prolific midfielder, Danny Mandroiu. It is stated that the League of Ireland player could be one of the first – if not the first – signings of the January transfer window for Ange Postecoglou.
An ex-teammate of newly recruited defender, Liam Scales, Mandroiu is said to be courted by a number of teams overseas, which has forced the Bhoys to step up their interest in the player. Having just moved to Rovers from Bohemians, the midfielder has been in red-hot form, scoring 15 goals from the middle of the park so far this campaign.
He’s been in such a rich vein of form that Stephen Kenny called him up for the Republic of Ireland in their summer friendlies against Hungary and Andorra respectively. It is not thought that a few should be an issue, with Celtic’s majority shareholder already heavily involved with Shamrock Rovers, hence the deal to bring Liam Sclaes to Parkhead over the summer transfer window.
As far as transfer rumours go, this is pretty underwhelming considering we are in what looks like a title fight to the death this year. We will need that extra sprinkling of quality in the January window, and to be brutally honest this one doesn’t set the heather alight. I could be wrong however, it’s difficult to gauge players like this when one of his peers hasn’t had a look-in so far since coming from the League of Ireland.

Scales has looked assured when coming in for brief appearances.
If Walsh out for Sat time to start him at the back with height and
pace and leave Bitton in midfield.
Hail Hail.
