AZ Alkmaar cancelled out Kyogo Furuhashi’s early opener after capitalising on a mistake in Celtic’s defence. Stephen Welsh, who has been excellent so far this season, couldn’t control a long ball from the AZ goalie but his touch appeared to be safely headed towards Joe Hart.

However, the ex-Man City goalkeeper hesitated in launching his clearance with Zakaria Aboukhlal nipping in to beat the Englishman and tap the ball into the empty net. It is frustrating to see Celtic lose a goal of this nature considering how impressive Kyogo’s opener was.
A lot of football is still to be played but Celtic have time and a two goal cushion in order to allow Ange’s side to get enough to progress. Hart won’t want to see that goal again but he can redeem himself by being a rock in between the sticks.
