Dunfermline Athletic announced today that Ex-Celtic player, John Hughes will take over the reins as manager of the football club as they look to turn around their fortunes, after a dismal run of form.
‘Yogi’ as he is affectionately known has taken over from another former Celtic star and teammate during his time with the club, Peter Grant. Grant took over the the Fife club at the start of the season with his tenure less than auspicious, leading to the Pars seeking a new name in the dugout. Grant had left the club languishing at the foot of the Championship table before his departure, so John Hughes has a sizeable task on his hands.

However, after his recent stint at Ross County in the Premiership last season, he proved that he still has the ability to organise and galvanise a team who may be short of confidence and flailing somewhat. He recorded a win over Celtic last year too, which was consequently the last nail in Neil Lennon’s Celtic coffin as manager of the football club.
Dunfermline put out a statement on their website announcing that they are delighted with the capture of John, revealing he has signed a contract until 2023 with the club. The club also mentioned that John had been in a two-horse race for the job, but that his leadership qualities and previous experiences are what made him stand out as the obvious candidate to replace the former Celtic midfielder Peter Grant.
