Matt O’Riley would be a more than worthy winner

Matt deserves his nomination, he would be more than a worthy winner…

Congratulations to Matt O’Riley who was yesterday shortlisted alongside Hearts striker Lawrence Shankland and theRangers duo Jack Butland and James Tavernier in this seasons PFA Scotland premiership player of the year award.

Matt throughly deserves his nomination after his superb performances this campaign. The midfielder has improved remarkably under the leadership of Brendan Rodgers and has thus far scored 13 league goals while providing 11 assists from midfield.

Those numbers are impressive and have played a huge part in our title challenge this season. The only black mark against Matt would be that he’s not been as productive since the start of the year, which is mainly down to the transfer speculation surrounding his future after a well publicised bid by La Liga giants Atletico Madrid, which was quite righty kicked into touch.

Matt admitted as much yesterday, but it’s only natural that he would have his head turned by such a life changing bid. To his credit despite his edgy form, he’s never hid and has put in tremendous effort on the park every time he’s pulled on those famous green and white hoops.

Every player nominated has had good campaigns for their respective clubs, but Matt would be more than a worthy winner if he collects the most number of votes. Best of luck Matt.

  1. 8 goals and assists in last 7 games..wish others could do that when they are playing as badly as him😂😂a joke
Even when he hast been in top heat he’s been our best player nearly every game
The continual knocking is sad and if anyone bothers to look at. His poor form

    He’s still
Out best player in every area he’s measured ..chances created assist s goals presses etc etc
Not one player in Scotland comes close which is probably why he’s the only guy to get offers from top top European clubs
Oh and I forgot he’s take two penalty kicks (one a panenka at Ibrox) what should have been a classic winning goal in extra time in the semis (if hart and the defence had done their job) scored both and we would have 6 more points if he has been given this duty from the beginning of the season as well as the golden boot.. cetic fans have a habit of kicking their top players when things go wrong…he deserves to play at the very top and the only reason we are still inw it’s a chance is him and him alone
    Poty by a mile

  2. Rob O’Keeffe on

Yep JBhoy, the black mark is he’s been mince for months…….Shankland deserves it…he’s had plenty transfer speculation and still does the business….
