Video: Touching moment between Juranovic and Maeda after World Cup shootout

Croatia beat Japan on penalties to progress to the Quarter Finals. Josip Juranovic was delighted as his team moved into the next phase. Unfortunately, this meant that Daizen Maeda was on the losing side.

The Celtic colleagues were pictured as Juranovic left the celebrations with his International teammates to console his friend from Celtic.

Maeda opened the scoring for Japan, his first of the tournament with a clinical finish. Unfortunately, he could only watch on as his teammates failed from the spot. The Celtic attacker’s industry was impressive as he helped push the game towards extra time.

  1. Daizen now has a more important date at Pittodrie in 12 days time, and I must say I rather hope that Josip will be able to join him! But we can be proud of them!

  2. Noticed this – but the BBC commentators didn’t seem to note the significance of two club team mates embracing at the end of the game.
