Watch all eight Celtic goals from Shen Menglu’s Happy Chinese New Year

Celtic FC Women got back on the horse this afternoon after that midweek mishap against Motherwell and Partick Thistle were the team who suffered as Fran Alonso’s Ghirls took their frustrations out on the unfortunate visitors with an eight goal mauling.

The team have scored 23 goals in three games in 2023 yet drew a blank in midweek against a Motherwell side that lost 3-0 to theRangers this afternoon. Had Celtic just waited until this midweek then they’d have been the ones facing a Motherwell side with tired legs, anyway enough of the what ifs. This Celtic team responded in the best possible manner today and were outstanding throughout.

Here’s what happened in terms of the goals and it could easily have been double figures, with the assistant referee in the second half doing his best to keep the scoreline down with an over eager flag waving display.

THE CELTIC TEAM…

A DELIGHTED FRAN ALONSO’S THOUGHTS…

“We don’t have to rely on one player to score the goals, there’s constant rotation so we are very difficult to defend against,” Fran Alonso said to Celtic TV afterwards. Here’s his post match interview…

CHLOE CRAIG AT THE DOUBLE…

“I’m delighted to get two goals but it’s a team game and I couldn’t get them without the Ghirls,” Chloe Craig said to Celtic TV…

Here’s all the goalscoring action…

And it’s an early goal from Natalie Ross to give Celtic a 1-0 lead over Partick Thistle in the SWPL1 match at The Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie…

It’s 2-0 to Celtic as Amy Gallacher’s powerful shot is deflected into the bottom corner, this is more like it Celtic!…

Bravely Amy Gallacher puts her head in where it hurts to make it 3-0 to Celtic…and that’s the scoreline at the break.

Celtic pick up where they left off and this time it’s Shen who gets the break of the ball to make it Celtic 4 Partick Thistle 0. Outstanding from Fran Alonso’s side…

It’s not like Chloe Craig to miss out when Celtic are putting on a show and sure enough up she pops and it’s now 5-0…

Jacynta is continually wrong flagged offside after coming off the bench. Some aren’t even close calls, then the one time she is actually offside there’s no flag and she’s made it Celtic 6 Partick Thistle 0…

Now it’s a penalty to Celtic and as Chloe Craig steps up, you know it’s a goal without us telling you. A Magnificent Seven from Celtic…

And now the skipper gets in on the act as Kelly Clark with a neat header and it’s Celtic 8 Partick Thistle 0…

And here’s Shen Menglu celebrating Chinese New Year with a Player of the Match performance…
