Celtic transfer target Gustaf Lagerbielke has revealed his excitement at the possibility of joining such a “big club” in Celtic. Lagerbielke was interviewed by the Gothenburg Post– today and had the following to say about Celtic.
“It’s great fun when such a big club is interested. They play in the Champions League and are a very big club,” Lagerbielke stated. When questioned about how open he was to a move, Lagerbielke said the following.
“Yes, all players in the Allsvenskan dream of going to better leagues and playing in the Champions League.”
The Swedish international also discussed his determination to become a better player, often staying behind after training in order to do so. “Yes, it has always been that way,” the Celtic target admitted. “It has helped in Elfsborg with a very professional group with more players who want to stay. It’s always more fun to hit balls at someone than at a con man.”
The six-foot three centre back was also asked if his departure would have dramatic ramifications for Elfsborg and their title fortunes, something which he dismissed entirely. “It is a good and broad squad with many good centre backs. It feels like we have good options in the centre-back position.”
Lagerbielke seems extremely keen on the move with progress on the deal likely to come in the coming days.
With Carl Starlet having agreed terms with Celta Vigo on a lucrative four year contract, and going through the medical formalities today, Brendan Rodgers – who today was tightlipped when asked about Lagerbielke at his media conference – has repeatedly stated that he will look at bringing in a replacement if and when Starfelt leaves.
You get the feeling that Brendan Rodgers will be more than happy to speak about Lagerbielke pretty soon.
