Callum McGregor, like very much every other Celtic player has been out of sorts this campaign thus far. His usual controlling play in the middle of the park hasn’t been evident so far this season, but I reckon like most of the other players it’s just the transition in styles as they get used to Brendan’s tactics after being so well versed in the former manager’s Angeball system.
Incredibly some of our supporters on social media have even called for Brendan Rodgers to drop his captain for the Glasgow Derby this weekend. That is ludicrous, sorry but it is. Anyone who would consider dropping their skipper and a quality player like Callum for such an important match doesn’t know anything about the game.
Imagine the damage that would do not just the player but team morale. Not only would be losing a good player, but also our leader going into the biggest game of the season so far.
Those suggesting such nonsense are only doing it for attention, well I hope they are, because if you think dropping the club captain before such a vital game is the right thing to do you need to go and get your head checked. I don’t proclaim to be an expert, but it doesn’t take one to know that axing Callum is not only wrong, but is also a non-starter.
The only reason Callum McGregor would miss Sundays game is through injury. Brendan would never drop his captain and rightly so. If he does I’ll eat my Celtic hat.

Rodgers no doubt has some sort of system of play currently, and the players like myself don’t seem to have a clue at what he’s trying to achieve.
Looking like Rodgers is trying to use calmac as a broony, big problem is calmac is nothing like broony as a player, and won’t get the best from him by trying to transform into a player he’s clearly not.
This could be said for a number of other players also currently imo.
You would expect a manager and coaching team to be playing a style/system of play to get the best out of the players you have got.
This doesn’t seem to be the case currently, hence the blame game already starting.
This weekend will be very telling as to what or if anything is working properly whatsoever, as not to much has been on show to date
McGregor is the only Midfielder we have who actually plays as a Midfielder, the rest are up front acting like forwards only without the end product.
Now thats on the manager and his 2-1-7 formation when in possession, not the players.
We leave our Centre Backs stranded on the ball trying to play out from the back with no midfield to pass to; they’re more like makeshift Midfielders only without the Midfield talent and are left trying to pick a pass into a crowd in the opposition 3rd.
Whatever system BRo is trying to implement clearly isn’t a good one, not domestically & certainly not for Europe; he needs to change it now!
Its not all on the players, its the system and manager, and the club for always bargain hunting the next best thing while selling off our most valued players and never properly replacing them.
Europes awash with talented footballers as good as or better than we have and mostly within our budget so there’s no excuses… it’s almost as if the club deliberately handicap themselves!

Having to carry Turnbull & O’Riley is putting a strain on Callumn, coupled with Taylor who’s back to his worst, also big Tony who’s not returned to his best, Maeda & Abada are not up front sufficiently as they have to cover as much ground as Callumn.
Lawell has taken over again and that’s the clubs biggest problem, advance without him, deteriorate with him.
Signings are once again in his penny pinching style.
Should Celtic lose to The Rangers on 3rd September I would not like to be Lawell or Brendan.
