Celtic in the UEFA Champions League: Draw details and where to watch

Celtic will discover their UEFA Champions League Group Stage opponents tomorrow as the draw takes place to discover who will face off in Europe’s elite competition. After last year’s exit from the Group Stages after facing Real Madrid, Shakhtar Donetsk and RB Leipzig, fans will eagerly await the draw as they nervously refresh Skyscanner for the potentially glamorous away trips.

Celtic will be flying the flag for Scotland in Europe’s top competition after Rangers were humbled 5-1 by PSV Eindhoven.

Draw Details

The 2023/24 UEFA Champions League group stage draw takes place at the Grimaldi Forum, Monaco, on Thursday 31 August and will be streamed live from 18:00 CET (5pm Celtic Park Time).

Who can Celtic get?

Celtic are in Pot Four so can be drawn with anyone from Pot One, Two and Three. There are, of course, a number of teams that Brendan Rodgers’ side would gratefully avoid – namely Man City and Barcelona. However, there would certainly be a few games that would offer up spectacles both home and away for the Hoops.

POT ONE: Manchester City, Sevilla, Barcelona, Napoli, Bayern Munich, Paris Saint-Germain, Benfica, Feyenoord.

POT TWO: Real Madrid, Manchester United, Internazionale, Borussia Dortmund, Atletico Madrid, RB Leipzig, Porto, Arsenal.

POT THREE: Shakhtar Donetsk, Salzburg, PSV, AC Milan, Sporting Braga, Lazio, Red Star Belgrade, Copenhagen.

POT FOUR: Celtic, Young Boys of Berne, Real Sociedad, Galatasaray, Newcastle United, Union Berlin, Antwerp, Lens

Worst Case Scenario

You would have to say that Manchester City, Real Madrid and AC Milan represents the hardest draw for Celtic but there are, of course, a number of sides that would pose real threats to Celtic. Although, as is the case with this tournament, fans want to match up against the best.

Best Case Scenario

In terms of favourable draws, Celtic would like to get either Benfica or Feyenoord from Pot One and either RB Leipzig or Porto from Pot Two with Shakhtar Donetsk, our rivals from last year, an ideal draw from Pot Three.
