According to Anthony Joseph, Celtic are interested in the Serie A striker, Sydney van Hooijdonk who currently plays for Bologna.
Sky Sports’ Anthony Joseph has revealed that Celtic are interested in signing Sydney van Hooijdonk from Bologna. According to Joseph, his future is still uncertain as it’s all still in very early stages. Also, it has been reported that Wolfsburg has already made advances in acquiring the 23-year-old’s signature, but hasn’t secured anything as of yet.
Sydney joined Bologna on the 3rd of July on a free transfer from NAC Breda on a four-year deal. However, Van Hooijdonk only made four appearances for the club, coming from the bench each time and failing to score. So, he left Bologna on a loan deal to Heerenveen in the Eredivisie in January 2022, where he enjoyed more success, scoring 22 goals in 48 appearances. He later returned to Bologna at the end of the 2022/23 season.
Sydney is of course the son of the former Celtic striker Pierre van Hooijdonk who played with the Hoops in the mid-90s and scored the only goal of the match in the 1995 Scottish Cup Final to give Celtic our first trophy since 1989. So, hopefully, Sydney will follow in his father’s footsteps and make a move to Paradise and bolster the Celtic attack, which is looking worryingly fragile at the moment.
Bologna striker Sydney van Hooijdonk is another player who has been on Celtic’s radar this summer.
His future still remains uncertain.@SkySportDe are reporting that Wolfsburg have made initial contact for the 23-year-old, who is the son of Hoops icon Pierre van Hooijdonk.
