Celtic star Matt O’Riley made his debut for Denmark this evening in their defeat to N Ireland. The 22-year-old qualified for Denmark through his grandmother and has impressed with their U21s. These displays, combined with his Celtic form saw O’Riley called up for the last two camps.
Now, Kasper Hjulmand has given O’Riley his first cap, which will likely be the first of many.
“Yeah, I’m obviously proud to have played my first game.” 🗣️

Since arriving from MK Dons, O’Riley has been excellent – scoring 14 goals and assisting on 23 occasions in 89 appearances. Ange Postecoglou signed the player and developed him further into a promising attacking midfielder; however, he needed to bring goals to his game. This has been something that the arrival of Brendan Rodgers has assisted with.
O’Riley has been one of Celtic’s standout players this season, if not, thee standout. It is huge for the club that they have tied him down to a long tern deal, which will drive his value to a potential Scottish record.
