Celtic are reportedly in talks with Sparta Prague for Danish goalkeeper Peter Vindahl Jensen.
The Scottish Champions are on the hunt for a new No.1 after Joe Hart bowed out of the game last month after winning the Double to compete his successful three seasons at the club which brought him three league titles, two Scottish Cups, two League Cups and the love and admiration of the entire Celtic family.
As reported by Mark Hendry at Football Scotland, Celtic are in talks with Sparta Prague over the signing of the Danish goalie, who has been capped at U21 level by his country. Prague signed the 6ft4 goalie after a successful loan from AZ Alkmaar, meaning that he is on a long term deal with the Czech side.
The report states that Celtic boss Brendan Rodgers is an admirer of Jensen and the Hoops will hope to convince him to switch the Czechia capital for Glasgow’s East End.
And the Daily Mail has reported on Celtic interest in Bournemouth defender Chris Mepham as they eye up summer reinforcements. Mepham, who struggled to get much game time at Bournemouth last season and is going into the final year of his contract, can play left side of the central defence and has played alongside Cameron Carter-Vickers previously.
The report says that the interest in the Welsh international defender from Celtic is at the early stages and no formal approach has yet been made. The potential fee could be as much as £8m which will have Peter Lawwell spitting out his cornflakes this morning! (Yes we know that it’s Michael Nicholson who is in charge these days!)
Incidentally, there was some speculation earlier in the week about the possibility of a Celtic return for Stuart Armstrong now that he is free agent after his contract at Southampton came to an end. This photo below shows the former Celtic midfielder in action against current Celt Cameron Carter Vickers and rumoured Celtic target Chris Mepham.
