We’d love Celtic to put on a show but expect them to put up a fight

I’m confident we’ll score, but I’m also sure that we will concede. No matter the outcome, let’s just hope we put in a fighting performance. It’s all we ask…

Arne Engels could be a match winner for Celtic in Dortmund

Only a few hours until kick off in Germany and the nerves are already starting to kick in. Past experiences at this level aren’t exactly in our favour, and more often than not we don’t do ourselves justice against the bigger sides at this level.

Exceptions are a little higher for this one, especially after our storming start to the campaign, so I can understand why, but it will still be a very tough hurdle to overcome. One thing I’m confident of is that we will score. Dortmund aren’t that secure at the back, while we have been free scoring this season, and we undoubtedly have the talent to breach their backline.

Unfortunately though I’m also sure that we will concede. No matter how strong our defence may be we always concede at this level. It’s a sure thing. That’s not me being negative, it’s just an opinion and I’m sure most of you will share it.

We do however have the firepower to make a difference in the game, and it could well end up being a high scoring draw, or the dream scenario of a win in our favour. It could also go the other way and we suffer a heavy loss. It’s quite frankly, a difficult game to predict, in terms of the scoreline. Anything can happen.

Whatever the outcome let’s just hope we put in a fighting performance that’s full of effort and commitment. It’s all we ask.

Last week our Ghirls did us proud and made history in the Champions League. This time it’s the Bhoys chance as a win in Dortmund would give Celtic our first Champions League win on German soil and would more importantly have the rest of Europe sit up and take notice of Celtic again as a top team in European football..

  1. We go into this game in possibly the best all round game, for an away CL match?
Confidence is at a massive high for ourselves, a style of play that really suits our players, so believe it’s about whether we can actually deliver against far better oppersition than we are use to?
Our transitional play from defence into attack has been at sensational levels so far this season, and believe it will be key for ourselves tonight imo?
The improvements made to ourselves as a team without the football, and the speed we can turn winning the football, and creating chances, is a fantastic development installed into our team, especially for CL level?
We will require a full 90 minutes performance, and was able to deliver one on Saturday, and the same will be required tonight also?
So now we have a subs bench in place, where the performance levels aren’t dropping?
All round, I believe that we have the strongest all round game, ever heading into an away CL match, and if our team delivers, then an historic result can be achieved tonight, with a well earned victory imo?
