Benkovic’s out for 4 weeks, one coming in and several going out the door according to Brendan

Brendan Rodgers was delighted with this evening’s 2-0 win over St Johnstone which saw the Champions extend their lead over Kilmarnock and the Rangers to six points.

“I’m delighted with the performance. I thought we played very well. First 20/25 minutes we were too safe in our passing but then we started to play better,” the manager admitted.

“I thought we had great control.

“These types of games are difficult. We score two goals and their keeper has a couple of great saves. We should have had a clear penalty but I’m so happy with how we played.”

On Filip Benkovic, as The Celtic Star told you the big guy is going to be out for around 4 weeks so his season is NOT over!

“Initially he’ll be out for around 4-5 weeks. His ankle will be in a boot and then we’ll assess it from there. Disappointing but Jozo Simunovic came in and was excellent tonight,” Brendan revealed.

On the new signing Maryan Shved who was at the game tonight, Brendan had this update to give.

“Medical is done. He’ll go back to Ukraine, finish his season there and then come in. By the summer he’ll be ready to go.”

And as we move onto Deadline Day the manager had this to say. “ We know specifically what we want. We’ll assess the squad after tonight to see who can go out on loan. I don’t think we’ll be overly busy but hopefully we can get one more in.”
