Balikwisha spotted at previous club after Celtic Park sighting

Celtic first team outcast Michel-Ange Balikwisha made a return to Royal Antwerp over the weekend. The Congolese attacker has struggled to make an impact at Celtic Park after making the switch from the Belgian side in a £4.5m deal.

Balikwisha has made just 14 appearances, registering 2 assists since the move last summer and it is expected that he will be moved on after a poor season. The 24-year-old has been on the pitch for just 398 minutes, limiting his chances to make an impact but ultimately, three managers have come to the same conclusion on the player.

A summer exit feels inevitable and a route back for the player could be a return to Antwerp, where Balikwisha was spotted on Sunday.

Balikwisha was among a three player group that turned out on the Celtic Park pitch to undergo some extra training. The attacker was joined by loanees Joel Mvuka and Junior Adamu, who were put through their paces by a Celtic coach. It remains to see whether Martin O’Neill, Shaun Maloney and Mark Fotheringham will integrate any of the trio back into the squad as Celtic look to retain the Premiership title and regain the Scottish Cup.
