“Celtic will play exactly the same tactics, football supported by martial arts,” ex-Russia boss

A FORMER manager of the Russian national team has accused Celtic of using martial arts in their 1-0 victory over Zenit St Petersburg at Celtic Park last week.

The remarkable claim has been made by the former manager of USSR, Russia and South Korea Anatoliy Byshovets.

The ex-boss didn’t think much of Celtic as an attacking force in the first leg and reckons that they will come a cropper in St Petersburg on Thursday evening.

“Celtic will play exactly the same tactics, football supported by martial arts,” said Byshovets.

“Zenit will have to take their time and exploit the space. In the first match, they were not ready.

“They had to rely on their defence in Glasgow because the midfield and attack contributed little.

“But I don’t see Celtic being able to hold onto their advantage because I don’t believe they will be able to stop Zenit again.

“Celtic will have taken a lot out of their win in the first leg and will be positive, but I think Zenit will score enough to get through.”

He was joined by former Celtic striker Charlie Nicholas who as we reported this morning is predicting a 3-1 win for Zenit. You can read his comments HERE.
