Six Positive Cases Yet MSM Sparks Coronavirus Shut Down Fears

The Scottish Government have today confirmed that 6 cases of Coronavirus out of 1250 tested are positive with the illness. However, this low stat hasn’t stopped the Scottish Sun from sparking a panic by suggesting that Celtic’s 9IAR might be at risk.

The SPFL and SFA joint Joint Response committee to manage the possible knock-on effects from the illness said that there would be no immediate threats to games in Scotland. Although the Scottish Sun ran with an article with the headline – ‘SICKENER Coronavirus threat to Celtic’s 9 in a Row dream as SPFL chief warns outbreak could threaten entire season’.

“We are taking a pragmatic approach to the current situation and have alerted our members to the fact that, if the outbreak affects the first team of even one SPFL club, it could make completing the SPFL season very difficult, so first team players and staff should be extremely vigilant.

“Whilst the current, clear advice is that matches should proceed as scheduled, we will obviously prepare for contingencies where matches might have to be played behind closed doors, or even be cancelled, as we have already seen with other major sporting events.

“With that in mind, we have alerted the Scottish Government to the dire financial consequences facing clubs if the current situation changes and clubs are unable to generate revenue from ticket sales.”

Whilst the league authorities say that a shut down is possible, they do say that the clear advice is to proceed as scheduled whilst making certain provisions to ensure that the virus doesn’t spread via Scottish football.

There are a couple teams in Scotland that will be hoping that the rumour peddled by the Sun might be true and their season of failure may be struck from the record books. With that in mind. Celtic are just six wins away from their ninth league title and two Scottish Cup wins from four-in-a-row.

The news following the announcement from Italy that they had decided to have games played behind closed doors for a month. Although in Italy, there have been 107 deaths from the virus.
