DUTCH football authorities have decided to declare the Eredivisie over, with NO winners. Ajax and AZ Alkmaar were separated only by goal difference at the top of the division; however the title will not be awarded this season.
The Dutch FA were given the power by UEFA to call the league off following UEFA guidance yesterday which dictated that should the government state that completing the season was impossible, they would be able to end the league. Earlier this week Dutch PM Mark Rutte banned professional sport until September meaning that the league was inevitably going to be declared over.
Rage will be festering in blue half of Glasgow as they shout about the Dutch making the right decision. The same people will believe that Steven Gerrard’s beloved Liverpool deserve their title but demand a play-off with Celtic on the basis of sporting merit. The outrage and fury of the Ibrox support has become almost desperate as each avenue to stop Celtic’s 9-in-a-row appears to disappear each day as the inevitable pulls closer to being announced.
What a proper impartial decision looks like. Take note SPFL. https://t.co/1wLaENLl7t

Precedent has been set. @spfl must follow suit if all 38 games are not completed. No winners. No losers if nothing decides mathematically https://t.co/2NwuHu2Ik4

However, with the cases of Celtic, Liverpool and Club Brugges, who are miles ahead of their respective league – awarding the title on sporting merit is the only feasible and fair decision.
Clear a common sense approach needs to be applied individually to each league. More difficult to crown champions where leagues are close but Liverpool, Celtic etc should rightfully be awarded the title. https://t.co/8XU0kd4zyV
