WITH Scottish football set to return in August, it is worth remembering some of the key moments from the 2019/20 season. The season was packed full of incredible moments, one of those moments was Scott Brown’s last minute winner over Hamilton at Celtic Park.

Celtic played Hamilton in a midweek fixture at the beginning of December with the Betfred Cup final with Rangers just days away. Neil Lennon’s team went into the game three points ahead of Steven Gerrard’s team who played Aberdeen that night.

Ryan Christie scored early in the first half in what was a lacklustre first half for the Scottish Champions. Chances were created but the second goal was elusive. News trickled through that Rangers were leading 2-0 at Aberdeen and the Celtic support demanded more as Hamilton remained defiant.

Celtic pushed as news broke that Rangers had lost their 2-0 lead and Celtic would go clear at the top of the table with a win. Despite chances being created, Brian Rice’s side gained confidence as the game entered the final stages and were rewarded when Ogkmpoe scored for Accies in the 90th minute.

It looked as if Celtic had slipped up allowing Rangers to keep ground on Lennon’s team. However, as the game appeared to be over, a captain’s performance was needed. Scott Brown picked the ball up and managed to squeeze the ball into the net at an acute angle sparking scenes of jubilation.

Not only did the victory give us three vital points but it showcased the clubs win-at-all-costs mentality that Neil Lennon would have been so proud of. The result was a huge moment in the season as it was that commitment to win that saw Celtic lift the Cup days later as despite being on the back foot for most of the game, we stubbornly defended and grabbed a winner.
