Lennon plans pre-season trip ahead of new season

NEIL LENNON is planning a pre-season camp ahead of Celtic’s tilt for ten-in-a-row. The Irishman equalled Jock Stein’s record of 9 consecutive titles in 1974 with the 2019/20 Premiership title but is eyeing an unprecedented 10th title and wants the players to be in the best possible condition to create Scottish football history.

As reported by the Sunday Post, Lennon spoke about how he plans to get his players up to start ahead of the August restart. Initially, teams will have to train in small groups but Lennon is hoping that once training increases in size, a training camp,

“Initially, we will be training in small groups which is fine, just basically bedding the players in again. Then we may look to go away to a training camp. We are pursuing a couple of avenues that may be a possibility.

“That would maybe allow us into training in bigger groups, which is obviously very important in your preparation for the new season. All those processes and think clouds are all in place at the minute. We do feel confident that if there is the possibility of going to a camp, we will.”

The manager of the 9IAR Champions also confirmed that the club were exploring the possibility of taking the camp abroad when asked if he would consider leaving Scotland should Scottish Government guidance allow.

“It could do, yes. That’s something we are looking at, no question.”

The Scottish Champions will have a hectic schedule when they return to action and Neil Lennon’s team will face the sternest test that they have had. Lennon was the man to start the push for 10IAR in 2012 and it is right that he stands as the man that could deliver the greatest domestic triumph.
