Matt Smith is a popular broadcaster for ITV and BT Sport, who has covered several European nights at Celtic Park over the years, not least the famous 4-3 victory over Juventus in 2001, when he waxed lyrical about the atmosphere at Paradise. Smith described the stadium as “a cauldron of noise” on that evening. Now, he’s set to return to ground in a different capacity, working for Celtic TV as part of the Pass To Paradise team on Sunday.
Celtic host the Glasgow Derby this weekend and, with the league already over, they only have pride to play for. Although, preventing the Ibrox club from continuing their unbeaten league run would also be a welcome boost for supporters.
The club announced that Matt Smith will be part of the pundit team for the fixture, breaking the news via Twitter this afternoon.
We are delighted to announce that Matt Smith will be joining us to host this weekend’s coverage of the Glasgow Derby on the @CelticFCPass.
We look forward to welcoming Matt to Celtic Park and once again we are urging all Celtic supporters to #StaySafe and #StayHome for the game.

Strangely, most of the reaction has been about Celtic referring to the match as a Glasgow Derby rather than the Old Firm. Perhaps sensitivity has been magnified since the whole “We’re not half of anything. Not our problem. #OneClubSince1888” tweet last weekend.
Very much looking forward to another Glasgow Derby. https://t.co/jU1tERJahj

Is this the same guy who laughed about a rather untoward joke about Shunsuke Nakamaura many years back. Surprised you guessed haven’t picked up on that.
