Ibrox Today? Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and the Wee Donkey

Jesus, Mary and Joseph, and the wee donkey. How many times must those words have been uttered this afternoon and I guess Ted will make the same pronouncement later tonight.

Where to start with that performance? The players? The two full backs offer nothing in defence and even less going forward. We didn’t have an out ball all game. The CB pairing doesn’t work; the young lad needs to learn from a proper CB, not a converted defensive midfielder.

The game passed our captain by and our vice captain’s highlights in this fixture include an own goal and a sending off this afternoon, will nothing positive in between. There are two certainties in our life at the moment and I don’t mean death and taxes. It is that in these fixtures, we won’t keep a clean sheet and the midfield will get overrun. Unfortunately, that always seem to come as a surprise to the coaching staff.

Have you noticed that since Neil Lennon has gone, the team sheet doesn’t get leaked. Just saying. To be honest, there is no point in leaking it because we all that it will be the same players and the same formation. I made a pact with myself that if he did the same for today’s game, I would help my daughter with some DIY and painting rather than watch it. She insisted I watch the game and was a bit surprised when I knocked on her door at 1.15. Never watched it after that and didn’t know we had conceded another goal until 6pm.

Why did the interim manager not make a change when we went a man down? Why didn’t he make a change at half time? Why didn’t he make a change when we were pinned back at the start of the second half? Why did he wait until the game was over before making a change? He may rue the red card but what has he seen in our vice captain to believe that he is a defensive midfielder?

Neil Lennon remained manager for far too long and it was said during that time that there was not a manager in the SPFL that couldn’t get more out of our squad. John Kennedy has shown that he is not a match for any current manager in the league and has lost his chance of managing us or any other SPFL team. Sad but true.

If they announce Rafa as manager tomorrow morning, I would just boo. That is how much negativity there is at the moment. Watch the game on Tuesday? I’ll be watching paint dry.
