UFC superstar Conor McGregor welcomes Celtic legend to restaurant

UFC star Conor McGregor has welcomed Celtic legend John Hartson to his restaurant in Dublin. The Irish fighter posted on Twitter to his 9.3m followers that Hartsonw as joining him at Black Forge Inn today. The UFC superstar is a Celtic supporter and has previously worn a Celtic shirt during sparring ahead of a big fight.

McGregor has previously expressed an interest in investing into Celtic. However, any suggestion that the fighter would buy Desmond’s shareholding is likely to be a gimmick given that his net worth is around £150m. Although, he may be interested in purchasing a shareholding and using the club as a vehicle to promote some of his other ventures. McGregor is a shrewd businessman, having enjoyed success with previous alcoholic products outside of his sporting field.

Hartson has the Celtic badge tattooed on his arm as well as ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone’ underneath. The big striker has a close bond with the club’s support and is fondly remembered as being one of Martin O’Neill’s most trusted lieutenants, even if he was a big nuisance of a player.

In his time at Celtic Park, the Welshman scored 110 goals and would leave Paradise with three league titles, two Scottish Cups and one Scottish League Cup. Since retiring, Hartson has been involved with punditry often discussing the club’s affairs even if some of his views are over the top, it is clear that he has a deep affection for the club.
