Celtic captain Callum McGregor enjoyed a short Spanish holiday before returning to Lennoxtown yesterday where there were a couple of new faces waiting there to meet him and a few familiar face who have had the uncertainty about their long term futures settled by signing permanent deals to remain at Celtic beyond their initial loan spells at the Scottish Champions.
Calmac was full of enthusiasm today for the new season and has been greatly encouraged by the club’s busy few weeks since the transfer window opened. And the Celtic captain was today happy to confirm that he expects a few more additions to the squad over the coming weeks.
McGregor was asked in his exclusive interview with Celtic TV about the new players arriving during his break: “It’s been excellent. I know the manager was really keen on getting the boys from last year here as well.

“Having spoken to them over the summer, they were desperate to come back. It’s a huge club. The boys are buzzing to be a part of it.
“The club have done their business early. Hopefully, we can add one or two more faces as well, which would be great. We jet to Austria this afternoon, get some time to bond with the lads, enjoy it and work hard.”
The players on international duty arrived back a week behind the rest of the squad, with the likes of Jota also being given a little longer away as his loan moved ended on 30 June with his new fiver year contract kicking in on 1 July.
Now though everyone is together and already on their way to the club’s pre-season base in Austria.
Celtic’s captain was in no doubt about just how crucial a period this is for the club. He told Celtic TV: “Yeah, it’s really important. It’s a really vital part of the season. You get your football fitness in, but the manager also gets the chance to work with you tactically and individually.
“He works with the group, what he wants from the team and the intensity he wants the team to play with. This season we need to reach another level, that’s the challenge for the players and the manager will be setting that challenge.”
