Video: Former Celt Ben Doak scores for Liverpool against the Rangers

Former Celtic Academy player Ben Doak has scored against theRangers in the Champions League youth match this afternoon ahead of Liverpool hosting the latest Ibrox club this evening in the Champions League Group stages.

Liverpool have three points after their win over Ajax, but lost in match day one in Italy, going down to a heavy defeat at the hands of Napoli. Napoli then went to Ibrox to pick up three points so at this stage Napoli have six points, Ajax and Liverpool have three each and theRangers are pointless.

Ben Doak isn’t involved in the Liverpool first team at the moment, instead he is wearing their iconic number 7 jersey for the Liverpool Academy side and the former Celtic talent, and indeed a Celtic supporter, will be delighted to have found the back of the net against theRangers B Team this afternoon. You never know he might add to his tally as the game is ongoing.

Doak was given some minutes earlier this year in the Celtic first team against Dundee United in a 2-1 win, with Liel Abada getting the winner in the closing stages, then he came off the bench in that unforgettable 3-0 thrashing of theRangers at Celtic Park at the beginning of February which sent Celtic clear at the top of the league looking down on theRangers.

Other than for an hour or so on Saturday, that’s a position we’ve never reliquished and long may it continue.

Losing Ben Doak was a real blow to the Celtic Academy but we move on. Here’s his goal…
