A great day for Daizen but a slog nevertheless for Celtic

We are still in the hunt for silverware, but that doesn’t mean we can’t ask questions of the players and manager…

I wrote yesterday that I reckoned that the game against Livingston would be a bit of a slog, and I was proven to be correct. Although we did win and deservedly so and are in tonight’s draw for the semi finals. But that doesn’t mean we can just ignore yet another below par display from the players. The only ones who received pass marks were hat-trick hero Daizen Maeda and Nicolas Kuhn.

The rest looked rather shaky yet again, particularly the defence, who seem to crumble under any sort of pressure. I’m afraid to say it, but we don’t look like a title winning side. Without the likes of CCV, Reo Hatate, Callum McGregor and even Luis Palma we look very much like an ordinary side. The others certainly don’t fill you with any confidence.

Brendan told us that Matt O’Riley had been ill all week so perhaps he should have sat this one out. Stephen Welsh was thrown in at the last minute due to the ongoing CCV situation and Kyogo had to settle for a place on the bench.

Livingston are a poor team. They are staring relegation in the face for a reason, yet we made them look like a half decent side. That is a very worrying sign.

We are of course in the semi-finals, and still in the hunt for two trophies, only just. But that doesn’t stop us from asking questions. Hopefully we will have Reo, Calmac and CCV back after the international break and we might even see Carter-Vickers in the team this weekend against St Johnstone at Celtic Park.

That draw against the Perth outfit at Paradise at the end of August last year was the start of a trend where Celtic needlessly spilled points. Hopefully that has now ended because we can’t really afford to allow it to happen again. Get Kyogo back in the team, and let’s go into the international break on a high.

Because next up after that is theRangers at Ibrox…mouth-watering!

Just an Ordinary Bhoy

If Celtic had lost yesterday Rodgers was out the door.Good to see that there is a report stating he isn’t the long term coach of Celtic and when we lose the title he will be gone.Kuhn looks a player now because he showed up in one game against the bottom of a very poor league? Mouthwatering game at Liebrox? Aye for them.Celtic look like a mid table team at the moment.Every team knows they are as soft as putty. If anyone can honestly say they are happy watching Celtic then I’ve got a nice big White House in the USA up for sale.
