A Scottish Cup Final 50/50 split, much like the away ticket fiasco, is nothing but farcical…

It was revealed yesterday that Aberdeen FC had their request for more Scottish Cup final briefs accepted after persuading the SFA that they were deserving of a fifty-fifty split for the showpiece which takes part at Hampden later this month.
For me, and I’ll sure you’ll all be in agreement it’s an absolute charade that the governing body have agreed to the Dons demands especially after they failed to shift their much significantly lower allocation for the semi-final clash with Hearts.

A huge slap in the face to the Celtic supporters
It’s also a huge slap in the face to the Celtic supporters who attended in huge numbers for the semi-final thumping over St Johnstone, as well as attending previous rounds in a similar fashion.
To make matters much more worse the Dons have agreed to underwrite the cost of any unsold briefs, and with that almost likely to happen there will be visible empty spaces dotted around the national stadium for the country’s showpiece final that would have been undoubtedly snapped up by the Celtic supporters.
A grubby, underhand deal that the Scottish FA has done
The Scottish FA have shown themselves not to be bothered too much about having a full stadium for the game’s showpiece match of the season, but just interested in making sure that they get the ticket money regardless. It is a grubby, underhand deal that the Scottish FA has done because it does nothing to protect the interests of supporters who pay handsomely to visit their stadium.

Aberdeen as was shown on The Celtic Star yesterday are offering up to FOUR tickets each to their supporters while there will be tens of thousands of Celtic fans unable to attend the match. Had the Scottish FA given Aberdeen tickets on a section by section basis with unsold sections by an agreed date coming to Celtic, then the SFA would have had their full money, Aberdeen would have had their supporters who wanted a ticket to get one and the balance would have allowed a few thousand more Celtic supporters to attend the game.
The Scottish FA have shown that they simply don’t care about supporters
Just like the nonsensical away ticket allocation that has been introduced by clubs, this is just another own goal for the reputation of our game at a time we need to be doing all we can to make it more attractive.

Is there another country in the world whose football clubs and national associations prefer empty seats to a supporter attending?

Enjoy the fruits of our labour protest hit the mark
The Celtic support’s protest at Tannadice last weekend stood up for all supporters with ticket prices rising 25% since last December. It was justified and effective in getting the media coverage it deserved.
That should just be a start.

Only in Scotland do you take less than 15k for a semi and demand 20k+ for a final whilst willing pay for unsold tickets to prevent opposition fans getting them.

Nonsense. Why should Celtic be given more tickets. Its a final.
