A monumental day as the title race pendulum swings in Celtic’s direction

Have you calmed down yet? If you are anything like me probably not. What a finish to the game at Parkhead today after an even more sensational finish just a couple of hours earlier up at Dingwall. Is this the day the title race swings in Celtic’s direction. It certainly feels like it.

Today was an absolute rollercoaster ride of emotions. I got home earlier and switched on my TV and thought I would check how the Cinch Premiership’s early kick off was getting on. To my surprise Ross County were 2-1 up and the second half had not long kicked off. Great I thought until theRangers scored literally 30 seconds after i tuned in. I must be a scud. Do I need to keep watching? I know what’s coming. But I persist and as I thought they got a third goal 20 mins later.

I was going to turn off until I noticed that after going ahead they started to look wobbly. Time ticked away nearly as quickly as my hope of an equaliser until a late corner. It just felt like it was coming. And it did. Points dropped. An opportunity for Celtic to close the gap wide open. I’m hoping we get an early goal to relax the nerves but it doesn’t transpire. Chances come and go and the crowd gets more tense by the minute as we enter half time still scoreless.

In the second half Jota comes on and makes a huge difference. Surely it’s only a matter of time? But no, even though we are cutting Dundee United open at stages the ball just doesn’t seem to want to go in. The Giakoumakis chance? Sheer luck as the ball ricochets off the goalkeepers legs. The tension at the ground increases as all Celtic fans dread handing our Glasgow rivals a reprieve.

Then much like the game at Dingwall, the game turns in injury time. Abada proves that even at such a young age he’s the man for the big occasion. This lad is only 20 years old. He is only getting started. He has the potential to go on to have a fantastic career at the highest level in football. His stats this season are unbelievable.

Today the title race pendulum took a massive swing in Celtic’s direction. When the full time whistle blew it felt like a monumental moment in the season. Champions come up with injury time winners. Bottlers lose goals in injury time.

Celtic, it’s up to you to lean into this momentum and beat theRangers when they roll into Parkhead on Wednesday with their heads down. It’s time to be ruthless. It’s time to show who has that champions mentality. Win on Wednesday and I genuinely think it will be the nail in the coffin that will end our opponents delusions of grandeur and reduce them to what they always were. A mentally weak team who wilt under pressure, something they never experienced last season as we self imploded.

It’s in our hands now. Don’t miss the chance to completely break our title rivals spirit on Wednesday. Let’s remind them who owns Glasgow.

Hailing from Cushendall in the North of Ireland my formative years were spent watching Celtic during our barren spell through the 90's which meant I have appreciated our recent trophy-laden spell even more. Favourite matches home and away I've attended has to be beating Man Utd 1-0 at Celtic Park and being with my 2 brothers watching us beat Lazio 2-1 in Rome. Best away day experience? Has to be Munich with friends from Coatbridge...what a few days!
